Narrative
The centered brass circle turns by hand, marking the quiet cycles of life—movement and pause, reflection and renewal. Its motion mirrors the rhythm of the seasons and the passing of light through each day.
During this season of shorter days and longer shadows, I am drawn inward. The stillness of winter offers space to listen, to restore, and to reconnect with what sustains me. Within that quiet, I find my own light—steady, resilient, and often revealed in the most subtle ways.
Beneath layered paint, the gold leaf flickers through muted tones, suggesting that even in darkness, light continues to breathe beneath the surface. This piece honors those in-between times—the slower moments that allow for reflection and the unseen gathering of strength.
Each rotation of the brass circle becomes an act of contemplation, a reminder that our journeys unfold gradually, guided by an inner light that remains constant through all seasons.
Artist Note
Unfolding Journey grew from my earlier Turn for Peace series, where the hand-turned brass circle first appeared as a symbol of reflection and stillness. In this work, that form becomes the quiet center of a new exploration—how light, even in its gentlest season, continues to move, gather, and shine from within.
